* * * * by Daniel Rogov
At the slopes of Galilee hills in their green abundance, their wilderness and their streams, lie the young vineyards of Galilee Mountain Winery, a joint operation of the Golan Heights Winery and kibbutz Yaron.
In 1996 the Golan Heights Winery expanded their planting of vineyards in the Kadesh valley in cooperation with the kibbutzim Malkiya and Yiftach. Those vineyards joined with vineyards of Ramot Naftali, which since 1983 produce Cabernet Sauvignos grapes.
In 1997 the first vineyard in kibbutz Yiron was planted. At the same time the kibbutz decided on founding a winery in the direct surrounding of its inhabited region. And that is how the Galil Winery started their work in 2000. This winery is a corporation that combines the unique characteristics of the upper Galilee with expert knowledge of the Golan Heights Winery regarding the production of quality wines.
